Announcing a change in responsibility for staff hiring for research

Dear Research Faculty,

I’m writing with an exciting update to the role of GCMs on our campus.  As you know, GCMs have been involved in hiring both students (graduate and undergraduates) and staff (technicians, staff scientists, postdocs, etc) in the past.  The hiring process has too often been complicated by an increasing workload in managing pre- and post-award for GCMs, as well as increasing expertise necessary for hiring into staff positions.  

So, Melissa Mickles has graciously offered to take over all responsibilities for hiring non-students from the GCMs.  Moving forward, faculty will need to work directly with Melissa on hiring staff.  The hiring steps, and information Melissa will need, are described here.

We are grateful for the HR support from Melissa, and hope that this will streamline staff hiring and allow the GCMs more time to focus on supporting your research efforts.
